The Japan Fair Trade Commission has recently ended its investigation into the proposed merger between Nippon Steel Corporation and Sumitomo Metal Industries, Ltd. After considering remedies proposed by the two parties involved, the JFTC concluded that the merger would not substantially restrain any particular field of trade or competition.
