Earlier this year, a committee on the Danish Competition Act submitted its report to the Danish government considering initiatives that can strengthen the effectiveness of the enforcement of the Danish Competition Act. The Committee’s recommendations concern the general information and guidance initiatives of the Danish Competition and Consumer Authority, administrative procedures in competition cases, the introduction of prison sentences, and the level of fines. Among other things, a majority of the committee recommended that prison sentences be introduced in the Danish Competition Act for involvement in cartels. The recommendations of the committee are summarised in an attached document.
