The Canadian Minister of Industry announced earlier today that John Pecman has been named as the interim Commissioner of Competition for up to a one-year term.
Mr. Pecman, a long-time Bureau investigator and senior manager, and previously the Senior Deputy Commissioner in charge of criminal matters, replaces Melanie Aitken who departed last Friday after seven years at the bureau, including the past three as Commissioner.
The Canadian government, and in particular the Privy Council Office, will decide on a permanent Commissioner in the coming months.
