For day 3 of advocacy posts, ICNBlog turns to India and Mauritius:
Outreach – India
The Competition Commission of India has launched a “Knowledge Partnership Initiative” with prominent law schools in India. The objectives of the initiative are to build a strong knowledge base in the field of competition law, to promote competition law compliance in India and expand the outreach of competition law. The first meeting was organized on September 14, 2012. Under the initiative, law schools will partner with CCI in various areas relating to research, education and advocacy.
Judicial Training – Mauritius
Last months, the Small States Network for Economic Development together with the Competition Commission of Mauritius organized a training workshop for African Judges and Public Officials from African states on ‘Milestones Judgment in Competition Law’. The workshop offered high-level capacity development on competition issues to judges and officials operating in Ministries dealing with trade, commerce or related portfolios. Discussions focused on leading international cases in cartel, monopoly abuses and mergers. Materials from the workshop are available here.
