The 2009 ICN Cartel Workshop, hosted by the Egyptian Competition Authority, was held from October 27th to 29th in Cairo. Two hundred delegates participated, including representatives of more than 60 competition agencies from around the world.
To honor the 10th anniversary of the series of agency-hosted international cartel workshops, participants reflected on the last decade of anti-cartel enforcement, sharing experiences and lessons learned from the investigation and prosecution of cartels across multiple jurisdictions. Agencies also shared expertise and investigative
techniques for detecting cartels and held in-depth discussions on the role of leniency and the challenges in transitioning to a criminal regime.
The 2010 ICN Cartel Workshop will be held in Japan. Information about this year’s
Workshop – including an E-Library of guidelines, policy statements, speeches and case
materials submitted by member agencies – is available at: http://www.icnegypt.org.eg.
