Last month, the ICN Steering Group received a cease and desist notice from the International Congress of Nurses for using its name (ICN) without consent. After much discussion, the Steering Group has decided to change the network’s name to the “Global Competition Network” or GCN. With 112 members from 99 jurisdictions, the name change will help draw attention to the truly global nature of today’s network. It also honours the network’s inspiration from the ICPAC report recommendation for a ‘global competition initiative.’ The name change will take effect at the annual conference in Istanbul, April 26-29.
